About

My name is Amber and I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Instructional Design and Technology with a Specialization in Training and Performance Improvement through Walden University. I created this blog during one of my courses and will likely continue to use this blog throughout the program to share my perspectives on what I am learning throughout the program.

I have a background in secondary education social science and have spent time teaching in a middle school setting. I also have a background in the human service field having worked for a non profit agency that helped individuals overcome barriers to employment in order to maintain independence. I am currently working for a large organization as an Employee Assistance Program Coordinator.

The natural path for advancing in my career would have been to continue my education in the field of mental health or social work however after a great deal of reflection I decided to pursue this new direction. The field of instructional design is appealing to me as it connects with my previous experience of working in education as well as psychology in addressing how humans learn and develop. Additionally I am passionate about improving performance in the workplace through streamlining processes, development of effective learning interventions, and the creation of successful training and development programs that ensure employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to be successful and productive in their jobs and to create success for the organization they work in.

I am excited to continue my journey of learning more about field of instructional design and obtaining the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in this new career path I have started on.
